Batik industry can be regarded as one of the main handicrafts among the other handicrafts wide spread throughout Sri Lanka.
The main raw materials used in this industry are Cotton (100%), Poplin, Voile, Silk, Gray Cloth, Paraffin Wax, Bee Wax and different colouring dies.
After applying boiled wax patiently with sensitive tools on cloth, an artistic creation will appear. Afterwards the cloths will be soaked in different solutions of colouring dies respectively to make the artistic figures bright and conspicuous.
